Created in 2020, the Carolyn Kroll Reidy Scholarships at the publishing institutes of NYU, Pace, the University of Denver, and Columbia University are awarded annually in memory of the former CEO, and fund attendance for candidates who might otherwise not be able to participate The scholarships help to realize Carolyn’s vision of a more representative and inclusive work culture. 

Since 2010, the Rockefeller Center Simon & Schuster Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council has been awarding high school students book relief scholarships through its Adopt a High School program.

Simon & Schuster annually provides financial support to philanthropic organizations that promote literacy and reading, provide assistance to authors, fight censorship and promote freedom of speech, protect authors and journalists, celebrate literature and arts, to assist booksellers in need, and deliver social assistance on a local and national level. The areas of philanthropy it engages in include support for organizations on behalf of:

• Literacy: The essential building block for an educated society
• First Amendment rights and freedom to publish: Protecting this critical right so that voices of all views can be heard
• Advocacy for authors: Including groups that help authors to hone their craft
• Helping those less fortunate: At both the local and national level
• Aid to booksellers: Emergency relief for employees and stores in difficult time
