The fashion powerhouse that is Christian Dior has an extensive rooster of A-list talent on speed dial to call upon as brand ambassadors. Names on said list include the likes of Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jisoo and Rihanna. The fabled French fashion house welcomes Rosalía as global brand ambassador for 2024, fresh from showcasing a chic black Christian Dior Haute Couture creation designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri to the 2024 Met Gala. Cementing their relationship even further, Chiuri taps the Spanish singer-songwriter as the face of the Lady Dior handbag (designed by Gianfranco Ferré in 1994). Following in the footsteps of Marion Cotillard as the face of Christian Dior’s most iconic handbag style, Rosalía poses for Collier Schorr in this year’s campaign series, captured both in full-color and black and white.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Terrible,” exclaimed Scotty the second the campaign dropped.

“Collier Schorr is so overrated. She can literally make anybody fall into depression. Happy for Rosalía, but they could’ve done something else,” Creative chimed in.

Also majorly underwhelmed was Snejana Onopka, who commented: “They set my girl Rosalía up. This is so lifeless!”

“The way Collier Schorr can make anything lifeless/boring is low key amazing,” laughed fashionvvvvvvy.

“Grim. This is a campaign that sells you the idea of doubting you’ve made the right purchase before you’ve even bought the bag,” shared a disapproving tigerrouge.

“Banal beyond belief. To add insult to injury here, this appears to be have been shot with the same lousy setup as Collier Schorr’s Pre-Fall 2024 campaign,” vogue28 pointed out.

Maria Grazia Chiuri’s love affair with all-things female photographers continues to go stronger, with every passing advertising campaign. Since 2016, when the Italian fashion designer became Christian Dior’s first-ever female creative director, MGC has endorsed female talent like there’s no tomorrow. A whole plethora of female creatives have captured and documented Dior’s various different campaigns. Including eveyrone from Brigitte Lacombe and Paola Mattioli to Alice Mann and Brigitte Niedermair. Up next is Collier Schorr. Chiuri called upon to American photographer to shoot Dior’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection. This collection was re-unveiled to the fashion press in New York City at the Brooklyn Museum just last month. Models Alice McGrath, Diane Tassigny, Ena Poppe, Nayonikaa Shetty and Ying Ouyang were called upon for the occasion, who pose throughout Schorr’s series of portraits, paying homage to screen legend Marlene Dietrich.

“Always the same boring concept,” immediately called out forum member matheus_s.

“Admittedly, this isn’t the worst Christian Dior advertising campaign I’ve come across during Maria Grazia Chiuri’s tenure. However, it’s all just so… insipid, lackluster and flat. The drama, theatrics and glamour needed to be turned ALL the way up for a collection inspired by Marlene Dietrich,” voiced vogue28.

Despite members of theFashionSpot forums critiquing the vast majority of American Harper’s Bazaar covers under Samira Nasr, we simply cannot deny Nasr’s knack for securing A-list talent for the magazine’s front covers. Cover subjects throughout 2023 have included everyone from Taylor Russell to Reese Witherspoon and Paris Hilton to Margaret Qualley. Fronting Bazaar’s double December 2023/January 2024 installment for over the holiday season is Lana Del Rey. Captured by photographer Collier Schorr and with styling from Yashua Simmons, the American songstress appears melancholic in the demure cover shot, donning a white tulle skirt with petticoat from Prada, teamed with a pair of Prada shoes and Cartier earrings.

Per usual, members of theFashionSpot forums soon began deliberating over the end result. “I am not a Lana Del Rey fan but I love the cover photograph and the styling. Love the color palette,” admired MModa.

“The cover is decent by Collier Schorr standards, but Lana is always dull and lifeless in pictures,” pointed out forum member mepps.

“And then throw in the dullness of Samira Nasr’s Harper’s Bazaar and we have this,” responded vogue28. “Although I will admit, it’s not the worst cover Nasr has delivered us. There’s just zero joy, life or energy for an issue which will be sat on shelves over the festive holiday season.”

“You can’t have nice things. Not even for the Dec-Jan issue. Maybe Lana was a bad girl, so the only thing Santa’s brought her is a bad wig,” tigerrouge commented.

Royal-Galliano said: “If I were a photographer, I would be embarrassed to hand in such work!”

“Lana del Rey deserves much better,” an underwhelmed WAVES declared.

“A cute cover by US Bazaar standards, but other magazines have done a much better job with Lana. I audibly gasped at the sight of that horrid wig. Unexpected subject choice, though. I appreciate that,” voiced aracic.

Interview Summer 2022 : Anne Hathaway by Collier Schorr

Since Interview relaunched back in 2018, the magazine hasn’t exactly been at the forefront of cutting-edge fashion photography. So it usually goes unnoticed by our forum members. The last time the title captured our attention was over a year ago with Naomi Campbell (and for all the wrong reasons). Fast-forward to Interview‘s Summer 2022 edition starring Anne Hathaway who pops up on the American publication 11 years after her last appearance. Photographed by Collier Schorr and styled by Dara Allen, the Oscar-winning actress poses before a pink backdrop working a harness top and bike shorts from Christian Dior’s Fall 2022 collection.

Needless to say, members of our forums aren’t impressed. “WTF is that? Is Anne Hathaway cosplaying Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?” asked avonlea002.

“Oh hunny, this styling…” stated KINGofVERSAILLES.

“Oh no this is so bad. The styling,” echoed BlueRuin.

“Atrocious… I could never see another photograph captured by Collier Schorr again and I’d be quite OK. Awful on all sorts of levels and amazed at the styling (or lack thereof) from Dara Allen,” proclaimed vogue28.

“It’s very amateur and the styling is nonsensical,” added YohjiAddict.

Urban Stylin also questioned the styling: “The cover is all kinds of weird, looks like she’s wearing a bulletproof vest.”

“The cover is bland…” critiqued an underwhelmed VogueGirl8910.

“Marilyn Monroe is not looking down and smiling fondly at this,” tigerrouge pointed out.

Samira Nasr at the helm of Harper’s Bazaar has ultimately proved to be somewhat questionable. Over the last three months, covers starring Megan Rapinoe, Gigi Hadid and even Beyoncé have failed miserably according to our forum members. Now the mag serves up Nicole Kidman for October 2021, whose last U.S. Bazaar cover appearance was back in 2012. Almost nine years later, the Aussie actress sports a head full of curls and a dress from Christian Dior’s Fall 2021 collection picked by stylist Stella Greenspan for the cover image captured by Collier Schorr.

“This magazine is so sad now,” said caioherrero.

“I just want to cry now…” added amby.

“Samira Nasr has just sucked the life out of American Harper’s Bazaar and this is yet another month in which I am dumbfounded as to how such a drab and lifeless cover has seen the light of day! Collier Schorr certainly doesn’t help matters, either,” voiced vogue28.

“Possibly the worst edition of Harper’s Bazaar in the worldwide lineup, especially given it’s supposed to be the one that leads the rest and has no excuse for its content like a lack of resources,” stated tigerrouge.

“Someone please break all Collier Schorr’s cameras and ban that woman from fashion…” declared dontbeadrag.

Meanwhile, charles01 wasn’t buying it, either. “That is not a flattering cover at all. It doesn’t do Nicole justice at all.”

“That’s a very rough-looking Nicole Kidman,” FashionMuseDior chimed in.

KINGofVERSAILLES called the cover “atrocious.” But do you agree?

Samira Nasr’s been at Harper’s Bazaar for eight months. In that time, Nasr’s vision has proved to be somewhat hit or miss, however. Covers starring Megan Thee Stallion, Jane Fonda and Megan Rapinoe weren’t exactly praised. But the mag struck gold following a series of covetable model covers for May 2021. Now another model comes our way with the unveiling of Bazaar‘s August 2021 installment. Gigi Hadid stages a comeback 15 months after her last Bazaar appearance decked out in a Gucci blazer and shirt picked by Ludivine Poiblanc for the cover captured by Collier Schorr.

“This is beyond mundane and Gigi’s facial expression is bad,” said WAVES the moment the cover dropped.

“The styling makes no sense, very amateurish and uninspiring. It bothers me much more than the dull aesthetic from Collier Schorr,” an underwhelmed GivenchyAddict chimed in.

“Why is Collier Schorr still working?” asked mikel.

“Another absolute miss of a Harper’s Bazaar cover under Samira Nasr. These dull, dark and downright depressing covers just keep piling up and I cannot fathom as to why Nasr insists on going down this path,” voiced vogue28.

“It’s frustrating that Samira chose to be mediocre like the rest of American magazines when her magazine can be great,” added THD96.

“Terrible, boring and depressing…” SLFC pointed out.

Benn98 wasn’t buying it, either. “It’s the blandness of it all. Bland colors, bland proportions, bland makeup.”

“The cover feels like a college project recreating the October 2018 Vanity Fair cover… It’s a waste of pixels, paper and everyone’s time,” stated tigerrouge.

Glenda Bailey didn’t exactly have the best track record on our forums over the years. So when Samira Nasr took over Harper’s Bazaar, we were eager to see what she had in store. But recent covers featuring Sarah Paulson, Liya Kebede and Awkwafina flopped. The mag’s March 2021 issue sees Megan Thee Stallion making her debut as a Bazaar cover star. Photographed by Collier Schorr, the American rapper poses before an orange backdrop wearing Chanel for cover one (below) and dons Saint Laurent on cover two (after the jump).

Needless to say, neither cover made a good impression on our forum members. “Both covers are terrible. I’ve never seen Megan look so boring,” commented gunsnroses.

“Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse,” liberty33r1b chimed in.

“The makeup, or lack thereof, made her look really washed out here. The expression also looks like she’s exhausted. Disappointing, they could’ve done so much with her,” voiced Marc10.

“Collier Schorr is so awful and dire. I will never understand how she has a career in fashion photography. Megan is a beautiful woman, but in these pictures every ounce of life is sucked out of her…” proclaimed mepps.

RedSmokeRise shared the same sentiment: “They’ve managed to suck all the life and fun out of her persona!”

“I’m underwhelmed and I blame Collier Schorr,” declared mikel.

“It’s certainly proving to be a case of ‘better the devil you know’ in terms of what Glenda Bailey once gave us at Harper’s Bazaar because Samira Nasr has been a major disappointment from the very start. Not even a cover under her full control is breaking new ground…” wrote vogue28.

Vanity Fair June 2020 : Janelle Monáe by Collier Schorr

Magazines have been forced to get creative lately since conventional photoshoots are no longer feasible due to social distancing. Vogue opted to print a previously unpublished portrait by Irving Penn for its special double edition, while Vogue Spain served up an illustrated cover in place of a glossy fashion photograph. Now Vanity Fair relies on Zoom to create its June 2020 cover image. Decked out in head-to-toe Chanel, Janelle Monáe was captured at home by Collier Schorr via the video communication service.

But the cover didn’t go over too well on our forums. “Maybe the worst photo of Janelle I’ve seen, primarily because it looks nothing like her. I’m certain she could have taken a better cover photo herself with an iPhone,” declared a disappointed KINGofVERSAILLES.

“Of course the one photographer who had to take a bad shot of Janelle had to be Collier Schorr. And then the audacity of Radhika Jones to print her thumbnail on the cover (yes, I get the point),” voiced Benn98.

“Oh my god, please remove Collier from that cover immediately. It’s bad enough as it is… Janelle sweetie, I’m so sorry,” said aracic.

Forum member mepps wasn’t feeling it: “Janelle Monáe is beautiful and usually photographs like a dream, but I can’t think of a single interesting thing about her that would justify this cover. That could be said of most cover choices under this new editor, though. The golden days of Vanity Fair are long gone.”

When it comes to serving up captivating magazine covers, Alicia Vikander doesn’t exactly have the best track record on our forums. Whether the Swedish actress is Photoshopped into oblivion on American Vogue, soars to new heights on a cheesy cover of Harper’s Bazaar or looks totally miserable on Porter, our forum members have never been awestruck by Alicia’s efforts. Vogue Japan is the latest publication attempting to do Alicia justice by giving its October 2019 cover to the Louis Vuitton brand ambassador, who, unsurprisingly, wears the iconic French fashion house in the cover shot. Photographed by Vuitton’s campaign photographer Collier Schorr and styled by Sissy Vian, Alicia’s latest fails to impress.

The cover was a total flop. “They always put Alicia in a fashion setting and give her tricky styling. She doesn’t have the range. This might have worked better with Luigi & Iango,” commented zoom straight away.

“Louis Vuitton obviously paid for this cover. You have Alicia Vikander, a full LV look and Collier Schorr. No thanks,” disapproved GivenchyAddict.

“I think there’s a lot of money left at Louis Vuitton to the point of producing things like this…” laughed DK92.

“So funny how [Nicolas Ghesquière] is still trying to make this girl into a fashion icon. I think she obviously doesn’t care, or seem to, this is just part of her job now and it (always) shows!” called out Miss Dalloway.

In the same frame of mind was Ken Doll Jenner: “The leather skirt looks like a camel toe, her expression looks unsure and yet LV keeps insisting that this girl is the next fashion star? No thanks.”

MON wasn’t impressed, either. “She looks uncomfortable.”

“All sorts of awful, but of course I didn’t expect to be blown away upon clicking the thread, given the fact it involves the ever-dull and lifeless Alicia Vikander (and Collier Schorr for that matter),” said vogue28.

“It’s not her worst cover…” confessed kokobombon.

“Oddly enough, I agree,” replied Benn98. “I expected worse considering all the parties involved. But this Collier Schorr cover looks, dare I say, vaguely glamorous. The pose is, of course, awkward, but then that’s 90 percent of Alicia’s covers for you.”
