Anthony Vaccarello’s love for Juergen Teller only continues to go from strength to strength. After all, since 2019, the Saint Laurent creative director has enlisted the famed German photographer to capture a whole multitude of Saint Laurent’s fashion imagery to the point where we’ve began to loose count. Vaccarello invites Teller to lens his Summer 2024 campaign installment, with models Penelope Ternes, Loli Bahia, Ajus Samuel and Eva Herzigova becoming the face and embodiment of the Spring 2024 collection, which was headlined by the reincarnation of Monsieur Saint Laurent’s iconic safari jacket from 1968. The ladies assemble within a quarry throughout the series of fierce campaign imagery, embodying the ultimate Saint Laurent and becoming the true definition of femme fatale.

“I saw this on a tram stop in Marseille and stopped in my tracks. It is so beautiful,” shared tomtakesphotos.

“Enough to make me go weak at the knees! I am 100% completely sold on yet another Juergen Teller-shot Saint Laurent campaign. The casting, the makeup, the location, the drama, the femme fatale vibes, everything’s just working perfectly to complement the collection perfectly,” enthused vogue28.

Urban Stylin shared the same sentiments, commenting: “Stunning campaign. Very retro YSL sophistication!”

“This campaign is getting better and better. Love every picture!” declared cul8tr.

IMAGE | NUMERO.COM

OK, we admit that Numéro doesn’t capture the attention of theFashionSpot like it once did circa 2008. Covers of the magazine simply do not have that spark, that energy or excitement. At the very least, nevertheless, models remain at the forefront when it comes to the title’s cover stars and Eva Herzigova is one of the magazine’s latest selects for March 2024. Captured by photographer Szilveszter Makó, the top model who heralds from the Czech Republic is featured across a twosome of covers for Numéro #245 and strikes a confident pose in a dress from Versace’s Spring 2024 collection (teamed with a pair of Balenciaga sneakers) in cover one (below). For cover two (after the jump), Eva is decked out in Prada Spring 2024, as selected by the cover shoot’s stylist Lisa Jarvis.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

JPineapple immediately shrieked: “They did her super dirty!”

“This looks atrocious. Eva looks worn and haggard here! What is with the dress and sneakers? This is not the mid-2010s anymore,” voiced a disapproving dontbeadrag.

“How disappointing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Eva Herzigova look so bad before. And those sneakers? Jail!” exclaimed aracic.

“They got Eva and that Versace dress for THAT?” Scotty asked.

Mepps commented: “They couldn’t give her cuter sneakers? That’s my biggest problem with this cover, because I like the rawness of it.”

“I love Eva and I don’t hate this. I even like the pairing of the sneakers (although maybe not THOSE sneakers) with the Versace dress. However, I do wish both arms were raised instead of looking like the Statue of Liberty,” critiqued forum member marsnoop2.

You may find it hard to believe that Balenciaga never had any official brand ambassadors on its rolodex until July of this year, and started off with Isabelle Huppert and Krit Amnuaydechkorn. Added to that list is Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, who makes her official debut as ambassador to the storied Paris-based fashion brand with the unveiling of the Spring 2024 advertising campaign. Photographed by Tyler Mitchell and with Suzanne Koller on styling duties, Yeoh is accompanied by models Eva Herzigova, Soo Joo Park, Malgosia Bela, Arthur del Beato and Khadim Sock. The cast assemble on location together within the French capital and under the night sky, pose with Paris’ iconic Place Vendôme location as the backdrop.

Members of our forums soon began debating over the outcome of Balenciaga’s latest campaign series. “These literally look like selfies,” GoldenPetals critiqued straight away.

“I like the idea but it looks quite cheap,” Creative chimed in.

“No budget at all,” voiced a majorly underwhelmed Nimsay.

“I thought it was a lookbook!” exclaimed zacatecas570.

Vogue28 wasn’t buying it either. “It’s all just so underwhelming and feels like a total non-event. The hype surrounding this brand is truly starting to die down and it’s starting to show,” he wrote.

“Yes, no/low budget, selfies, even an afterthought. And still leagues more creative, expensive-looking and high fashion than whatever American/British/French/Italian Vogues have been churning out,” defended Phuel.

WAVES was quick to defend the campaign too, commenting: “Low budget or not it fits the actual aesthetic of the brand. I’m not expecting much more from Balenciaga.”

The month of September has belonged to supermodels. Period. First came the covers of American and British Vogue (with Linda, Christy, Cindy and Naomi) to coincide with the release of the highly-anticipated AppleTV+ documentary. Naomi Campbell has since unveiled a clothing collection with PrettyLittleThing, a widely-celebrated Linda Evangelista and Steven Meisel retrospective has been published (as well as Linda covering WSJ. Magazine) and the industry icons made a megawatt appearance at Vogue World: London.
Vanity Fair Italia jumps on the supermodel bandwagon and bestows upon us a whopping 21 of modeling’s finest. Via the lens of photographic duo Luigi & Iango, the impressive lineup of beauties includes Kristen McMenamy, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Shalom Harlow, Iman, Eva Herzigova, Milla Jovovich, Pat Cleveland, Elisabetta Dessy, Paulina Porizkova, Cindy Crawford, Carla Bruni, Stephanie Seymour, Helena Christensen, Kirsten Owen, Carolyn Murphy, Amber Valletta, Lauren Hutton, Twiggy and Penelope Tree. The ladies pose across a spectacular group-shot cover (below), and are each celebrated individually on a series of fierce and fabulous solo covers (after the jump).

Yet in the eyes of our forum members, something appeared off – way off. “What on EARTH is with the post-production on that group-shot cover? I am sat here 100% convinced those heads are from previous shoots with those ladies, and not current. I am… dumbfounded at how horrific that cover is, in all honesty,” complained vogue28.
“I really wish I could love this. I know Luigi & Iango are Photoshop kings but they’re taking the cake with this one,” agreed forum member WAVES.
“Photoshop Horror Picture Show. How can anybody take this seriously?” asked FiLeReD.
OllieJE laughed: “Supermodels zoom meeting!”
“Criticism aside, this has the glamour that Vogue is sorely lacking. The individual covers are glorious and I love the cast,” reasoned marsnoop2.
“The solo covers are gorgeous! Wouldn’t mind getting my hands on them!” justaguy enthused.

Zara x Steven Meisel 2023 by Steven Meisel
IMAGE: FASHIONNETWORK.COM

Since 2017, we have been forever indebted to Marta Ortega Pérez, chair of Inditex, who has blessed us with Steven Meisel as Zara’s campaign photographer for the brand’s main womenswear fashion advertising campaigns. Season after season, campaign after campaign, the partnership has been a joy to witness and here at theFashionSpot we are always sat in anticipation as to what’s next.
Seven years later and the bond between Zara and Meisel remains as strong as ever, with the masterful American photographer having now collaborated on a whole entire collection with the Spanish retailer, titled ‘Steven Meisel New York’ which will be available for purchase on Zara’s website September 18.
For the accompanying advertising campaign, Meisel called upon his muses from past and present, including Irina Shayk, Lexi Boling, Ash Stymest, Amber Valletta, Eva Herzigova, Kit Butler, Liya Kebede, Angelina Kendall, Alton Mason, Kaia Gerber, Avanti Nagrath, Leon Dame, Sora Choi, Scott Barnhill, Loulou Westlake, Jackson Jarrell, Alberth Johnson, Gigi Hadid, Elio Berenett, Wali Deutsch, Gendai Funato, Akbar Shamji, Penelope Tree, Gray Eberley, Nyawurh Chuol and Linda Evangelista. The impressive lineup of A-list talent of course don pieces from the upcoming collection, posing in Meisel’s photographic studio and captured in black and white.

Unsurprisingly, members of our forums were left in complete awe. “It looks like a long Vogue Italia editorial, and I love it! Brings me back to the great times of fashion magazines. The cast is superb,” raved ivano.
“The images are FAB! Meisel’s work for Zara has never missed once,” enthused fenty.
“No one does portraits like him. He really brings out the best in whoever he photographs,” wrote GivenchyHomme.
Vogue28 was also in awe, commenting: “All of this is enough to make me go weak at the knees, it’s all just so heavenly and divine. It goes without saying that Steven Meisel is a master at his craft, an absolute gift to us all. The whole entire cast here look utterly sensational, so lovely to see the likes of Linda, Amber, Eva, Penelope… I could go on and on. OBSESSED!”
“Perfectly executed and divine! The sheer size of this portfolio is utterly impressive! I am blown away by the portraits, which I find absolutely incredible. The images could definitely be compiled into a sublime issue of Vogue Italia some eight years ago,” noted aracic.

Vogue Czechoslovakia July 2020 : Eva Herzigova, Kylie Jenner & Stormi

Since conventional photoshoots are no longer feasible, magazines are relying on alternative measures to generate cover images. Take Vogue Czechoslovakia and its latest set of covers. Cover one (below) features Kylie Jenner and her adorable daughter Stormi captured via FaceTime by Luca and Alessandro Morelli. Eva Herzigova stars on cover two (after the jump) wearing a white Valentino number during lockdown in Italy shot by Laura Sciacovelli.

The covers immediately sparked debate on our forums. “Why do they think it’s a good idea to have two covers with no consistency? Also can we talk about how cringey the captions are?” asked 0st3nd.

“Kylie Jenner shot by the Morelli brothers, doesn’t get any tackier than that, does it? Scraping the bottom of the barrel. I like Eva’s cover, but without the tired, voluminous Valentino. I’m sure the only reason she’s posing like that is to show off the look, if she was just sitting there it would look like a pile of white fabric,” Benn98 chimed in.

“MISERABLE!” declared an unimpressed Srdjan.

Also not feeling the covers was vogue28: “I’m all for Vogue covers reflecting current times, but Eva Herzigova’s cover does nothing for me, despite the whole concept of being at home reflecting everyone’s circumstances right now. It’s just far too dull, depressing and miserable.”

“I actually like Kylie’s cover, although I’m really starting to view Stormi as an accessory to her now. I’m guessing she’s a muse to the Morelli brothers. They seem to photograph all of her mainstream covers. I would be here for Eva’s cover, but the hands throw it off for me,” critiqued Summer Day.

“What’s Kylie doing on Vogue CS? It’s not that bad though, little Stormi is too adorable for me to hate it!” voiced aracic.

Fashion glossies are getting creative now that social distancing is the new norm and conventional photoshoots are no longer feasible. Ever since its inaugural issue back in 2017, Vogue Arabia has been breaking boundaries, like making Halima Aden the first hijab-wearing Vogue cover star or making bold political statements. For May 2020, the title asked Imaan Hammam, Constance Jablonski, Nora Attal and Eva Herzigova to photograph themselves during quarantine. The models actually put a lot of established photographers to shame with their images for the magazine’s latest installment.

Members of our forums were pleasantly surprised. “This is how you do a stay-at-home photoshoot! It looks professional and beautiful, it’s not another lazy, boring selfie in pajamas. Excellent work. Other magazines should take notice…” applauded aracic.

“Interesting how models can shoot and produce their own covers and make it look better than what we’ve seen from actual photographers. Imaan looks royal. Although I’m not sure they’re cover-worthy, they’re still a lot better than these annoying FaceTime photoshoots we’ve been seeing!” said Valentine27.

GivenchyAddict shared the same enthusiasm: “Imaan is absolutely fabulous. She did better than some photographers with or without the COVID-19 situation.”

“I really enjoy the simplicity of Nora’s cover, she looks gorgeous. Imaan’s cover is the best out of the four. I can’t wrap my head around the fact that it’s all her doing. AMAZING,” LustforFashion agreed.

“Now this is how you do a stay-at-home issue, still has to be fashion. Don’t show us people bathing their kittens or gardening in their pajamas. All four covers are stunning, well done Vogue Arabia. Fashion photographers better watch out!” exclaimed Urban Stylin.

CANNES, FRANCE - MAY 21: Elle Fanning attends the screening of "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" during the 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2019 in Cannes, France. (Photo by Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images)

Cannes is known for grand gowns and this year, celebrities really upped the stakes. From dresses so big they needed their own zip code to blinding bling in the form of necklaces, cuffs and earrings, there was so much to take in at every premiere. And there were plenty of structured silhouettes, especially when it came to jumpsuits. (We even spotted a pair of rompers on the red carpet.)

But the biggest star of this year’s festival was Elle Fanning. The youngest jury member in the event’s history, the actress really went for it each and every time she set foot on the red carpet. And we appreciate all the effort the 21-year-old put into her appearances.

In case you weren’t glued to your computer to check out all the premiere looks, we went ahead and put them together in one handy-dandy slideshow. You can thank us later.

There were lots of suits and sparkles at this year’s The Fashion Awards (aka the British Fashion Awards). While most of the suits were pretty streamlined, some of the gowns were pretty OTT boasting everything from feathers to big back bows. And the naked dress is alive and well over in London with Kendall Jenner wearing one of the most risqué looks of the night. Kaia Gerber picked up her Model of the Year award in style, decked out in a glitzy Alexander McQueen dress-over-pants combo.
