Thankfully for us, Vogue Czechoslovakia is one of those editions of Vogue which tends to favor models as their cover stars. The year 2023 gave us everyone from veteran models Carmen Kass, Debra Shaw and Elle Macpherson to newbies like Giselle Norman and Daniela Kocianova. Czech Vogue‘s head of editorial content Danica Kovarova opts to kick-start 2024 by welcoming Alessandra Ambrosio as the publication’s cover girl, whose last Vogue cover appearance was for Vogue Mexico back in August 2023. Captured by the Morelli brothers, the Brazilian beauty welcomes us on location down on a sandy and idyllic-looking beach in Malibu. Styled by Milena Zuravljova, Alessandra embodies a true tomboy sporting a mashup of Cultnaked, Poan and Miu Miu in the laid-back and nonchalant cover photograph.

“I love that even though she didn’t have the support of big figures within the fashion industry, Alessandra Ambrosio is still around. She has earned her place and icon status in this game,” championed gustavo prado.

After skipping 2020 and scaling back for 2021 due to the pandemic, the 2022 Cannes International Film Festival is back in full force. Which is great for us since it usually produces fashion moments on par with the Met Gala and the Oscars. Although we have to admit, a decent amount of looks were relatively lackluster.

When it comes to designers, certain ones reigned supreme. We witnessed several dresses from Valentino’s Fall 2022 offering, aka the pink collection, take to the red carpet. Sharon Stone stuck with Dolce & Gabbana probably because she stars in the Italian fashion house’s new handbag campaign. As usual, there were plenty of haute couture looks to go around. Fendi, Armani Privé, Elie Saab, Christian Dior and Chanel are just a small sampling. Custom creations were also trending with Cara Delevingne’s revealing Balmain gown one of the standouts.

The jewelry was also something to behold. Especially when it came to necklaces. Julianne Moore’s Bottega Veneta dress was amplified by Bulgari’s Eden The Garden of Wonders necklace, for example.

On the beauty front, hair really turned heads. Bella Hadid’s wet-look hairdo with sculpted strands in the middle of her forehead really made a statement. As did Grace Elizabeth’s piecey pixie.

Cannes is known for grand gowns and this year, celebrities really upped the stakes. From dresses so big they needed their own zip code to blinding bling in the form of necklaces, cuffs and earrings, there was so much to take in at every premiere. And there were plenty of structured silhouettes, especially when it came to jumpsuits. (We even spotted a pair of rompers on the red carpet.)

In town to promote her new campaign launch for LASCANA, a German swim, lingerie and active brand now available in the U.S., we sat down with the supermodel and asked her our quickfire questions.

1. The first thing I do in the morning is… kiss my kids.
2. The last thing I googled was… looking for a hotel where I could vacation.
3. If my days had one extra hour… I’d sleep!
4. The best beauty advice I ever received was… stay hydrated.
5. My desert island beauty product is… my Marajó hair care.
6. The toughest part about being a mother is… leaving my kids when I have to travel for work.
7. What makes LASCANA distinctly me is… I love the tagline because I truly live by my own rules, it’s my world!
8. When my self-confidence has taken a hit… I call one of my best friends.
9. My guilty pleasure is… that’s tough! It’s hard to choose between french fries or cupcakes.
10. When I have a big blemish the day before a photoshoot… I have an amazing facialist in Los Angeles so I would go see her for an emergency treatment, but I’m not telling you who she is! I need to keep her a secret for her to be available for me!
11. When it comes to working out… I love beach volleyball.
12. A career achievement I’m dying to check off is… I don’t know about that!
13. If you looked at my desktop you’d see… a picture of me and my kids.
14. My most memorable travel experience was… there were so many! It’s hard to pick, but last year I went with my family to French Polynesia and my daughter got to swim with the sharks. She was the only one who wasn’t afraid! The rest of us got to swim with the stingrays. It was just the most beautiful place ever.
15. I’m dying to splurge on… hmm … let me think … a car!
16. One thing I wish I could change about the fashion industry is… making it more inclusive and have people not take it so seriously.
17. My favorite place to shop is… I love going to Elyse Walker because it’s right next to my kids’ school so I can actually go before I pick them up. It’s easy and they have a lot of great things.
18. The best advice for looking great in a photo is… be yourself and be as natural as possible.
19. My most treasured possessions are… my kids!
20. My biggest fashion regret is… there are many, but I don’t really remember anything specifically…maybe for the better!
21. One thing I wish people knew about me is… I get shy when I have to speak in public.
