Don’t be sleeping on Vogue Mexico. Over recent months, the magazine which remains under the direction of editor Karla Martínez de Salas has managed to eclipse Vogue editions across the globe with terrific and buzz-worthy covers starring the likes of Irina Shayk, Anna Ewers, Jennifer Lopez and Alessandra Ambrosio. Due to the fact it’s a September issue, Mexican Vogue has seemingly pulled out all the stops and gave us none other than Cardi B as their cover girl for the title’s biggest offering of the year. The now three-time Vogue cover girl poses for photographer Alique across two unique and ultra-glamorous covers, decked out in a showstopping Schiaparelli haute couture creation in cover one (below) and a chic all-black Saint Laurent outfit for cover two (after the jump).
Mexican Vogue‘s latest had members of our forums a divided bunch. “Look at Cardi B out-modeling the supermodels! There is more charisma and glamour here than the American and British covers this month. I think Cardi looks absolutely fabulous, her hair looks flawless and she’s really serving us the glam,” raved aracic.
“Love it,” simply declared Gaultier_Bandit.
“No fan of Cardi B’s music here but these are, without question, some of the strongest September covers we’ve seen! Absolutely love how Cardi has photographed via Alique’s lens, love the photography overall, the styling and the beauty styling serves Cardi justice. It’s all just so perfectly executed, that I cannot help but to instantly love this,” vogue28 admitted.
Not everyone, however, shared the same enthusiasm. “What is this mess,” voiced NYLA22.
“Her body shape is horrendous in the Saint Laurent. It ruins what could have been her best cover,” noted an unforgiving GivenchyAddict.
“Mixed feelings… on one hand, I like Cardi B and I think this is the exact kind of makeover I want to see on Vogue. However, what terrible retouching or whatever mess this is,” Lola701 critiqued.
