Tonight, amid the fabulousity and sheer splendor of the Cannes Film Festival, the stars from the world of fashion, film and beyond have flocked to the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc on the Côte d’Azur to attend the 2024 amfAR Gala. The glitzy event marks 30 years of helping raise funds for aids research, with last year’s event raising a staggering $17 Million. Naturally, such an event calls for the A-list of the A-list to be in attendance and there was zero shortage of glitz, glamour and show-stopping fashion moments as the attendees walked the red carpet.

, Cher and Naomi Campbell join forces for a bevy of stunning covers for CR Fashion Book‘s Spring 2020 edition. The three icons were captured by photographic duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott on location in downtown Los Angeles for the series of black and white covers styled by Carine Roitfeld. All sporting bouffant hairstyles a la Priscilla Presley, the trio rocks all-black outfits to form the ultimate fantasy biker gang.

The covers were a hit with our forum members. “Fabulous! We all knew this was coming and I still let out a tiny gasp. It’s an all power cast shot in a confident, powerful way. Kudos to everyone involved,” applauded dodencebt.

The pink carpet at this year’s Billboard Music Awards was pretty hot — and it wasn’t just because of the sheer number of see-through outfits flaunting a tremendous amount of skin. Temps were in the mid-90s in Las Vegas, so it’s no wonder that a lot of stars opted out of melting on the carpet and headed straight into the venue. Those brave souls who decided to sweat it out favored sheer accents or completely see-through pieces. Inside, ruffles reigned supreme with attendees embracing them to borderline excess. If you’re looking for sheer shock and awe value, you can’t do better than the MTV Video Music Awards. From Kanye West interrupting his now on-again enemy Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech to a Rage Against the Machine member scaling the set after losing a Moonman to Michael Jackson mistaking a birthday cake for an “Artist of the Millennium” award, the show is ripe with jaw-dropping moments. And we haven’t even gotten to the fashion yet. Over the years, the VMAs has turned into a platform for showing as much skin as possible in truly eye-catching ensembles that take modesty to task. We’re talking a see-through bodysuit, a denim skirt so short it was a few inches away from being nonexistent and a dazzling pastie that no one who watched the 1999 broadcast can erase from their subconscious — just to name a handful of examples. In anticipation of this year’s ceremony just a few weeks away, we thought we’d take a look back at all the VMAs looks (both up on stage and off) that had us collectively shaking our heads.

“LOVE is just too desperate and irrelevant right now,” slandered Creative, unwilling to give support.

In agreement was KissMiss: “I hate all these covers. There’s always something so pretentious about this magazine…”

Oxymore wasn’t ecstatic either, adding, “I hate the masthead this time.” Oh, dear.

Discussion soon shifted toward Gisele’s unusual and unsuspecting cover. “Gisele looks really good here. It’s easy to forget that behind the fembot look is a truly versatile supermodel,” enthused an impressed GivenchyHomme.

“Gisele’s cover is so wonderful! Always love seeing her in a more high fashion concept. Also love Carolyn and Florence. Plus, Mia’s face is just precious!” continued Nepenthes.

Also showing enthusiasm was thiago:): “I know LOVE is a quite pretentious publication but I can’t help but love all the covers so far. I could have them all, seriously. Love how raw they look.”

As far as themes go, a lot of attendees shied away from this year’s China: Through the Looking Glass by simply opting for glamorous gowns. A few brave souls went all-out like Rihanna, whose elaborate Guo Pei creation was the talk of the night. Then there was Sarah Jessica Parker who turned heads in an H&M dress she helped craft along with some questionable Philip Treacy headgear. Going sheer was the real trend of the night with Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé giving us quite the eyeful. We also loved seeing exes Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz working the red carpet together in support of daughter Zoe Kravitz as well as FKA twigs and Robert Pattinson finally making their debut as a couple.

Andy Warhol @ Christie’s: The Entertainers runs through October 30th, with opening bids starting at $1,000. Last month, Christie’s ran another sale of works by Warhol (that one explicitly dealing with fashion and style) concurrently to New York Fashion Week. (We’ll be talking to Christie’s soon about the strategy behind the company’s recent move into online-only sales, so stay tuned.)

​All proceeds benefit the Warhol Foundation’s grant-making programs in support of artists and non-profits.
