Here on theFashionSpot, we’re always down for being completely enthralled and bewitched by a magazine which doesn’t stimulate our interest on the regular. This month, London-based biannual title Marfa Journal has our undivided attention, as the publication’s editor and founder Alexandra Gordienko welcomes Agyness Deyn back into the fold, fresh from an appearance at Burberry’s Fall 2024 showcase during London Fashion Week. Gordienko, a Central Saint Martin’s graduate who founded Marfa Journal in 2013, commissioned forum favorite Ethan James Green to document the British model, with the Issue 21’s cover shoot complete with styling from Emma Alix Wyman. Deyn strikes a handful of poses within Green’s studio in the dynamic cover shot, prancing about in an all-black look from Nicolas Ghesquière’s Spring 2024 Louis Vuitton collection.

Also equally as impressed was Scotty: “I love it. The Meisel treatment with actual proper models! We need Snejana Onopka by EJG now!”

Not everyone, however, was so forthcoming. “I could never warm up to Agyness when she was happening. Something about her just annoys me and I can’t figure out what it is,” shared Cocteau Stone.

“First British Vogue by Steven Meisel and now The Face by Charlotte Wales… I am becoming a fan of seeing Adele everywhere because she’s photographing just beautifully lately. The beauty styling and strong sense of retro glamour are ALL working in Adele’s favor — very much a fan of this!” applauded vogue28.

Urban Stylin shared the same level of enthusiasm: “She always photographs like a model…”

“She looks great here. The nails I’m not sure about, but the rest yes, yes, yes!” voiced Xone.

“It’s a beautiful editorial. But why is her makeup always so heavy?” asked mikel.

“She photographs beautifully, but I’ll never understand the appeal of this woman. I don’t care how many notes she can hit, her music is beyond dull and pedestrian. As a personality, she’s not even a compelling figure. She’s just nice and safe,” mepps chimed in.
