It’s not every month a fashion model graces the cover of a mainstream American fashion publication, even more so a model who is unknown outside the world of high-fashion. As editor of Harper’s Bazaar, Samira Nasr has sprinkled upon us the odd model across the covers of the Hearst-owned fashion title, with Liya Kebede having covered Nasr’s first issue as editor back in 2020. Leanne de Haan is the latest model to join the ranks as Bazaar cover girl for November 2023, dressed in a red bustier gown from Giorgio Armani Privé’s Fall 2023 collection via the lens of photographer Amy Troost.
Yet as per usual with Samira Nasr’s Bazaar, members of our forums weren’t so smitten with the outcome. “It’s not giving haute couture at all,” called out prylvi.
“And this is supposed to appeal to whom exactly?” asked RMDV.
“I can’t help but wonder what on earth Samira’s general worldview and temperament must be like to produce such bland, boring, depressing and drab issues every damn month,” blueorchid voiced.
In the same frame of mind was vogue28, echoing: “Miserable and bland beyond belief. The covers of American Harper’s Bazaar have never been the most energetic, lively and polished over recent years but this just reeks of last-minute cover shoot, IMO!”
Oaklee91 simply described the cover as “boring” but do you agree?
