In a bid to evoke Louis Vuitton’s spirit of travel, Nicolas Ghesquière transported the fashion pack to Barcelona (the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region) to present his Cruise 2025 collection. A handful of Vuitton brand ambassadors (including Ana de Armas, Sophie Turner and Lous and the Yakuza) were dotted along the front row, bearing witness to the French designer’s tenth cruise collection as creative director. Ghesquière opted to showcase his latest within Barcelona’s majestic Park Güell. Shown within the captivating Hypostyle Room (designed by Antoni Gaudi), the architectural masterpiece provided the perfect backdrop for Ghesquière’s futuristic spin on resort wear, with sleek tailoring and voluminous proportions setting the tone for the 80s-inspired lineup. Infused with bold Spanish influences, the collection was rounded off with accessories of sculptural earrings, brooches and wide-brimmed Andalusian hats.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“I think Nicolas is probably the only creative director of a major fashion house who is having such a strong POV and vast imagination which allows him to bled his aesthetics into different meta-narratives. Great show, great accessories. He saved the day (again)!” [Olaffo]

“I enjoyed it a lot! It was excess, very much close to the 80s. You can sense the Spanish references being mixed up with NG’s taste. For me, Ghesquière really managed to establish a precise silhouette for the LV women and just playing with fabrics, colors etc now and I love it: a real exercise of style.” [GivenchyAddict]

“I really enjoyed it. Not as precise and directional as the recent Shanghai show, but still miles ahead compared to what else is out there.” [j02215]

“Fantastic soundtrack! I love the dramatic allure of the opening looks, very Serge Lutens meets Carmen Sandiego. I loved the oversized blouson dress in ostrich, the little black sleeveless dress that came after with the dramatic collar, the simple black jumpsuit and the B&W look after. Very simple, fluid and timeless.” [Lola701]

“This was so disappointing, to be honest. I had high expectations when I saw the location being announced, and expected a lot more color and vibrancy given that it was being shown in an environment designed by Gaudi. Why was it so monotone? Also when will his obsession with the 80s be over? It’s getting so repetitive and boring at this point.” [Frederic01]

“The show was acceptable but too heavy sometimes. I wish we could see a lighter Ghesquière, less 80s inspired.” [Creative]

Here on theFashionSpot, we’re always down for being completely enthralled and bewitched by a magazine which doesn’t stimulate our interest on the regular. This month, London-based biannual title Marfa Journal has our undivided attention, as the publication’s editor and founder Alexandra Gordienko welcomes Agyness Deyn back into the fold, fresh from an appearance at Burberry’s Fall 2024 showcase during London Fashion Week. Gordienko, a Central Saint Martin’s graduate who founded Marfa Journal in 2013, commissioned forum favorite Ethan James Green to document the British model, with the Issue 21’s cover shoot complete with styling from Emma Alix Wyman. Deyn strikes a handful of poses within Green’s studio in the dynamic cover shot, prancing about in an all-black look from Nicolas Ghesquière’s Spring 2024 Louis Vuitton collection.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Oh, Ethan! Giving us what Steven Meisel won’t, I guess. Fabulous,” heralded aracic.

Vogue could never. Absolutely loving this, easily one of the best covers/fashion shoots I’ve come across this whole entire month. Wonderful to see Agyness Deyn and I will always be down for Ethan James Green doing his best Steven Meisel impersonation,” vogue28 enthused.

Also equally as impressed was Scotty: “I love it. The Meisel treatment with actual proper models! We need Snejana Onopka by EJG now!”

“I’m happy to see Agyness Deyn back and it’s no novelty that EJG is following on Meisel’s footsteps in terms of photography,” noted WAVES.

“So happy to see Agyness back,” Bertrando3 heralded.

Not everyone, however, was so forthcoming. “I could never warm up to Agyness when she was happening. Something about her just annoys me and I can’t figure out what it is,” shared Cocteau Stone.

UK Vogue June 2024 : Sophie Turner by Mikael Jansson

British Vogue‘s newly-installed head of editorial content Chioma Nnadi is now three issues into her tenure. Yet to state covers over recent months have flopped (hard) would be a major overstatement. Not even covers starring FKA Twigs and Zendaya have managed to impress us here at theFashionSpot. Next up on Nnadi’s list of cover conquests is Sophie Turner, who graces the British fashion bible’s June 2024 offering. The English actress, whose first Vogue cover appearance was on Vogue China‘s July 2019 edition, poses for Mikael Jansson. Styled by Camilla Nickerson on British Vogue‘s latest, the long-standing Louis Vuitton brand ambassador wears a look from Nicolas Ghesquière’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection in the cover shot.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Very random choice. Sophie Turner hasn’t really done anything since Game of Thrones,” voiced HodanChloe.

“Drab, lifeless and a complete non-event of a cover. Chioma Nnadi’s British Vogue has, so far, left me massively underwhelmed,” critiqued vogue28.

Aracic couldn’t have agreed more, echoing: “Another horrid cover from Nnadi!”

“Cover feels like they had two minutes in a hotel room against a blank wall before an event,” discredited an underwhelmed RMDV.

“What a waste of Mikael Jansson!” exclaimed crmsn.

“Surprised this is by Mikael Jansson, it’s horrible. I haven’t even read last month’s issue yet because that cover [with Zendaya] is just so bad and this isn’t much better. It looks very very cheap,” LastNight chimed in.

“This is a poorly cropped image of a person who is the ‘happiest’ they’ve been for ages, despite looking miserable as sin,” voiced tigerrouge.

Margaret Zhang is currently rounding out her tenure at Vogue China, having served as the magazine’s editor-in-chief since 2021. Subsequent to the announcement of Zhang’s unexpected departure, covers have gone to Fei Fei Sun, Rihanna and Tang Wei. Next up: Cate Blanchett. No stranger to the cover of Vogue, you might find it hard to believe that it has been four years since Blanchett’s last. Shot by Szilveszter Makó as Vogue China’s May 2024 cover subject, the Aussie actress becomes a red head for the occasion. In the creative and stylized cover photograph, complete with styling from Lisa Jarvis, Cate models a look designed by Nicolas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton – a brand to which Blanchett became brand ambassador in 2022.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Cate is beautiful and chic but this is NO!” DK92 immediately exclaimed upon checking out the cover.

“Terrible! She should have worn one of the long gowns or skirts from the collection with some blowing hair instead of this contrived thing!” Lola701 chimed in.

“I don’t like the cover at all,” shrieked forum member philophile.

Mepps wasn’t feeling it either, commenting: “Cate Blanchett is such a random choice for Vogue China. The cover is awful!”

“Usually I’m a huge fan of Cate Blanchett’s work, but this is just not good,” sighed justaguy.

Everyone else, however, could not have disagreed more. “I love it. At least Vogue China is doing something progressive,” defended signifier.

“I really, really LIKE it! I mean that woman can sell s*it and I would buy it from her!” shared BelkaniStaCouture.

Louis Vuitton continue to nurture its relationship with Léa Seydoux. After all, ever since Seydoux signed on the dotted line with the storied French fashion house in 2016 as brand ambassador, she’s been the face of umpteen Louis Vuitton advertising campaigns (from fragrances to handbags), graced the covers of an endless array of magazine covers wearing head-to-toe Vuitton and regularly dons Nicolas Ghesquière’s designs on the red carpet (most recently during the 2024 Cannes Film Festival).

Naturally, the French actress is adorned in Ghesquière’s Spring 2024 Louis Vuitton collection as she takes to the cover of M Le Magazine du Monde. The weekly supplement to the iconic French newspaper Le Monde has impressed us to no end lately, thanks to a series of terrific covers with Mona Tougaard, Amber Valletta and Paloma Elsesser.

M‘s latest is devoted to the Cannes Film Festival. Shot by British photographer Oliver Hadlee Pearch and styled by Katie Burnett, the French actress and star of Quentin Dupieux’s The Second Act which premiered earlier this week during the Cannes Film Festival, poses across a duo of black and white covers.

You’re about to see a whole lot more of Zendaya down at your local newsstand. Editors of Vogue from across the globe continue to trip up over themselves to endorse the global superstar.

Earlier this month, the 2024 Met Gala co-chair was welcomed by Anna Wintour onto American Vogue via the lens of famed photographer Annie Leibovitz – and to much fanfare from theFashionSpot’s forum members. In a shared transatlantic effort, Zendaya was swiftly unveiled as British Vogue‘s cover star for the exact same month. Now, Christine Centenera welcomes the fashion darling as cover girl, with the unveiling of Vogue Australia’s May 2024 installment. Three Vogue covers within one month is pretty impressive, right?

Four years after her last appearance on the Aussie fashion bible, the Challengers actress is photographed by Josh Olins. Naturally, of course, Law Roach was called upon for styling duties. The famed fashion stylist opted to dress Zendaya in a custom creation from Nicolas Ghesquière’s Spring 2024 collection for Louis Vuitton (to which Zendaya is brand ambassador). In addition, the recipient of one of theFashionSpot’s best-dressed at this year’s Met Gala event wears a selection of jewelry from Bulgari (another brand to which Zendaya is ambassador).

Vogue Hong Kong doesn’t exactly take our fancy each and every month, here at theFashionSpot. Following the magazine’s debut back in 2019, the last time the title truly took our fancy was in September 2023 when editorial director Kat Yeung served up a model extravaganza. Six months later, Yeung welcomes models-of-the-moment Lulu Tenney, Felice Nova Noordhoff and América González as cover girls. The beauties take a road trip across Marseille in southern France throughout the sun-drenched April 2024 cover shoot. Photographer Felix Cooper documents the fun, with stylist Dena Giannini coming along for the ride. Across a duo of atmospheric covers, Giannini dresses the girls in looks from Nicolas Ghesquière’s Spring 2024 Louis Vuitton collection.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“They all look anemic. A shoot on location and the result is unimpressive, and don’t get me started on that styling,” critiqued WAVES straight away.

“Harks back to the irrelevant editions of Vogue from mid-2010s. Horrible images, especially that second cover,” cried out a disapproving aracic.

Also majorly dissatisfied was forum member oaklee91, commenting: “I don’t find any of the covers exciting. They look like they’re going to the mall!”

“When you have three models who all have outstanding bodies of work and the result is this, it’s all down to Felix Cooper. Hard pass,” voiced zoom.

Vogue28 shared the same sentiments: “This feels incredibly dated, rushed and is a visual headache as opposed to feeling youthful, fun and like a breath of fresh air. Dena Giannini’s styling is abysmal and Felix Cooper’s photographer ain’t much better.”
