Subsequent to being installed as head of editorial content at Vogue Italia, Francesca Ragazzi has undoubtedly made an effort to support and champion homegrown talent. A whole new generation of Italian models graced the February issue while the likes of Benedetta Porcaroli, Matilda De Angelis, Vittoria Ceretti, Donatella Versace and Chiara Ferragni have covered the Italian fashion bible throughout Ragazzi’s tenure. For Vogue Italia’s digital offering for June 2024, Laura Pausini makes an appearance via the lens of Sebastián Faena. The celebrated Italian singer-songwriter poses on the cover to commemorate her 50th birthday, and strikes a pose beofre Faena’s lens wearing a look from Peter Hawkings’ debut Tom Ford collection for Spring 2024.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Good god, I can’t even look at Vogue Italia anymore,” cried out aracic.

“This team is clueless, not worthy of our comments anymore,” declared an unamused ah ah.

“Poor Laura,” shrieked Alquimista, also suggest the shoot wasn’t up to scratch.

Xone wasn’t buying it either, expressing: “I’m sure a local talent would’ve made this much much better!”

“I am not familiar with Laura Pausini’s music but from photos she seems to be photogenic and have great style. Nsure how they ended up with that cover,” Urban Stylin chimed in.

” She should have stared deeply into the camera and it would’ve been a good cover,” shared oaklee91.

Yet not everyone was so disappointed. “No clue who Laura Pausini is, and at first glance I thought this was Béatrice Dalle. Quite like the cover though, by no means is it the worst Vogue Italia cover I’ve came across and I like the sense of retro I’m getting from it,” defended vogue28.

Peter Hawkings continues to make big strides as Tom Ford’s creative director, and following his showcase during Milan Fashion Week‘s Fall 2024 season, is now two collections deep into the top job. The British designer’s first official advertising campaign at the helm of the world-renowned fashion label is here. Hawkings transports us to the seaside city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with the arrival of Tom Ford’s Summer 2024 campaign installment and enlists the photographer du jour Robin Galiegue to document the trip (in a very Helmut Newton-esque way). Models Agel Akol, Angelina Kendall, Eva Komuves, Hejia Li and Ida Heiner come along for the ride, who pose throughout various different locations within the Brazilian city, captured in Galiegue’s signature dark, moody and sophisticated style.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Loveee seeing Rio de Janeiro with a twist. Wonderful images!” applauded thiago.

“The helicopter shot is a Helmut Newton kind of dream! Fabulous!” exclaimed forum member Lola701.

Also quick to applaud the campaign was aracic: “That helicopter shot is truly one for the books! Fabulous. What a standout campaign from Galiegue, bravo!”

“Also LIVING for this campaign! An absolute delight. I’m into this new take on Rio de Janeiro. There is a very strong sense of glamour which I love. Very Helmut Newton-ish and that helicopter shot with Angelina Kendall is indeed pretty epic,” raved vogue28.

“Should have been a solo campaign for Angelina. She carries the whole thing. Her helicopter and pool floatie shots are the two strongest images of the whole thing and certainly the most evocative. The coloring and lighting is so dark and moody, that she brings the necessary sizzle needed to make the campaign hot,” voiced forum member lookatme.

In complete agreement over how terrific the campaign turned out was Ihhbl: “I LIVE! The helicopter photo and Angelina on the floatie are nothing short of amazing!”

That’s a wrap on MFW, with the undisputed king of Italian fashion that is Giorgio Armani rounding out the Milan Fashion Week schedule with a dreamy confection of whimsy and timeless silhouettes – sprinkled with a touch of romance. A wardrobe of winter florals, leaving us all here at theFashionSpot speechless in admiration.

Back on day one, it was Glenn Martens kick-starting the 5-day Milanese affair, with his fifth physical showcase as the creative force behind Diesel and experimented with a new and accessible show format. At Fendi, Kim Jones is wrapping up the Fendi woman for the Fall 2024 season in elegant tailoring. For a shot of color and extra warmth, Jones finished off the silhouette by adding extra layers of knitwear and cashmere. Utilitarianism done right. In an ode to metamorphosis, Fausto Puglisi ditched the signature animal prints in favor of a different kind of texture at Roberto Cavalli, opting for a marble-esque print this season. MFW staple Alberta Ferretti mixed leather and lace, fluffy winter coats with short skirts and chic tailoring with broad shoulders.

Timeless elegance reigned supreme at Ian Griffith’s Max Mara showcase, fabulous knitwear pieces in shades of grey were paraded down the runway by a stellar cast of top models including Natasha Poly and Yasmin Wijnaldum. Office attire with glimpses of the 50s were on full display at Prada, with co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons fusing together fashion with fragments of history. In a stunning tribute to a luminous nights sky, models walked the Emporio Armani finale with umbrellas as a light flurry of fake snow fell softly down on the runway – making for a truly unforgettable MFW moment.

Adrian Appiolaza made an extremely good impression on his first outing as Moschino’s creative director, having only had one whole month to work on the collection. On his second outing at the helm of Tom Ford, Peter Hawkings only further continued his vision of glamour and power. Models walked a marble runway wearing sleek tailored suits, hyper sexy dresses, big gold jewelry and killer heels. Matteo Tamburini’s debut at Tod’s saw the designer present an impeccable edited collection, true to the brand’s heritage. At Gucci, Sabato De Sarno essentially delivered part two of his Ancora vision, doubling down on the distinct shade of burgundy. Punk rock and the vamp aesthetics of the 80s were unveiled by Donatella at Versace, proving the iconic designer is wild at heart.

The Fall 2024 collection at Jil Sander featured pieces with crystal accents and an assortment of shaggy bags and shoes. Faithful to the brand’s DNA, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana presented a collection where black reigned supreme (with leopard print splashed throughout). Matthieu Blazy played with texture, shape and volume at Bottega Veneta and made the banal brilliant. Maximilian Davis’ latest for Ferragamo took inspo from the flapper girls of the 20s while it was all about pattern and play at Missoni.

How did such collections fare amongst theFashionSpot’s very own army of fashion critics, you ask? Scroll on further for the (many) hits and misses of Milan Fashion Week Fall 2024:

HIT | Missoni

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“What a great way to combine colors, stripes and texture. everything worked perfectly! Loved the venue and the music too.” [prylvi]

“What a great collection! This is the energy Missoni needed! The overload of patterns and styling works perfectly! Well done!” [WAVES]

“Ooh this a fun and smart with a small side of pop art. It is refreshing to see a collection that looks like itself (exuding its energy and essence) while also being forward thinking and contemporary. I really like this. Bravo, Grazioli. Impressive.” [TerraVera]

HIT | Giorgio Armani

“The craftsmanship is exquisite.” [lowfive1715]

“At last someone capable of designing flattering trousers. They are exquisite, while looking effortless.” [yslforever]

“Exquisite. As per usual with Giorgio Armani, the fabrics look extremely luxurious, plush and expensive. The color palette, as always too, is fabulous. There’s a flow from one look to the next, it’s all just executed to perfection. Armani’s shades of pink are always ultra-fabulous.” [vogue28]

HIT | Bottega Veneta

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“I mean it’s gorgeous, sumptuous and in the moment. The woven knits are delicious and the best pieces in the collection.” [Nimsay]

“It’s such a beautiful collection, I’m impressed! I love how graphic the silhouettes are, even the sharpness of the shoulders makes sense for me here, especially in knitwear. I also feel like it’s less heavy on experimenting with fabrics, and maybe that’s why it feels less forced than Spring 2024. I love it, and this time, even the in-house styling is not problematic at all.” [perhydrol]

“Sublime! Haven’t enjoyed a collection this much in a very long time.” [Ruito]

HIT | Tom Ford

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“I love this, all that this beautiful brand needed was a bit of streamlining to take it‘s rightful place as the most aspiring mainstream luxury brand and that‘s what Peter Hawking‘s done here.” [tricotineacetat]

“Streamlined and sexy. Love!” [AnaD]

“It’s got that disco gloss to it without venturing into Eurotrash territory. It’s really done in a tasteful way and whether people want to accept it or not, this has become a classic silhouette that Tom Ford himself popularized.” [GoldenPetals]

MISS | Prada

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Prada used to be famous for ‘ugly chic’. Now it’s just ugly.” [Koibito]

“At this point the brand is dead to me. I have nothing but love for Miuccia, but I’m no longer interested in her work. It’s all become too obvious. Sales may be up, but at what cost?” [GivenchyHomme]

“This looks like luxe apocalypse fashion. Boring, dated, the whole tone and styling of the show seems weird. The intentionally awkward arm placement of the models. The cast looks like they were told to look miserable onstage.” [AnaD]

See all the looks from the Prada Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Gucci

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“I’m crying… it’s just so cheap! The new low.” [Kanzai]

“It’s becoming increasingly clear that Kering wasn’t looking for a designer with a strong point of view (unlike Alessandro Michele) but just someone capable of making decent clothes for a large demographic so that they can sell them at an excessive price and that everything will be put into the marketing side.” [GivenchyAddict]

“When it was suggested that his designs need to be elevated, it wasn’t meant literally on a raised runway.” [Cocteau Stone]

See all the looks from the Gucci Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Jil Sander

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Horrendous.” [Alquimista]

“Are women actually buying these frumpy clothes? Even the tailored pieces are unflattering. There is no reason for them to shift away from the DNA of the house. Minimalism is thought of as easy, but it’s actually more difficult because it involves an emphasis on tailoring.” [GivenchyHomme]

“The spirit of the brand is certainly missing. It all seems a bit too tortured and away from the body in unappealing ways.” [Norden]

See all the looks from the Jil Sander Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | Dolce & Gabbana

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“This is a strong collection from Dolce & Gabbana solely because it is confident and extremely focused! There’s something that I will always appreciate about designers doing what they know they can do well.” [Lola701]

“Glad they found their way back to the much-needed sexy collections. No one does it better than them!” [tourbillions]

“YES, this is everything. It’s focused, direct, the mood is right and well made. They wanted to make a collection of tuxedos, jackets, coats, furs and that’s what they did. The sheer lingerie compliments them like a template of sexiness. Casting was great too!” [Alquimista]

See all the looks from the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Bally

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Those clothes are so weird. What a strange cut, ugly accessories and the whole bit is quite tragic. A waste of resources!” [Lola701]

“Undesirable.” [jeanclaude]

“I’m kind of repulsed by that olive green top with the flattened ruffle.” [Cocteau Stone]

See all the looks from the Bally Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Roberto Cavalli

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“What happened. Their previous seasons were so tight and screamed Cavalli. This feels like Prada trying to be sexy.” [Nimsay]

“A massive step back. Looks like a nondescript collection from the early 2010s. The casting is all over the place, making the clothes look even worse because there’s no attitude to it.” [Cocteau Stone]

“Ugh, I hate it. I want trashy 2000s Cavalli back!” [Scotty]

HIT | Ferragamo

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Love it. The perfect cast. Great colors, good footwear and I am even starting to warm up to his oversize hug bag. All Maximilan Davis’ women are strong and sultry, but still full of grace.” [VERNIQUE]

“I can see myself going to a fancy dinner in the two full knitwear looks (the beige and the green one) with just a nice little bag and it’s perfect! I must say this about Maximillian: he has a nice eye for colors! He chooses the right shades. And the burgundy and red combination is kinda fantastic!” [Lola701]

“The colors in this are just absolutely gorgeous! He’s certainly started to wise up and become more intuitive with his skill set and what he needs to work on.” [Cocteau Stone]

MISS | Marni

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“What the hell is this? What happened to Marni? I want to like the coats and capes, but this is awful.” [TerraVera]

“I feel sick. This makes me sad.” [Not Plain Jane]

“Utter trash, all this needs to be put in a pile and doused in gasoline and burnt.” [disco54]

See all the looks from the Marni Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Versace

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Ever since the Michael Kors takeover, Versace has become so insanely cheap looking. It’s like a completely different brand from those Donatella glory days of the early 00’s.” [lookatme]

“The styling and overall tone of the collection feels confused to me, a little goth, a little sprinkle of punk, a little Chanel… there’s a lot.” [aracic]

“This brand is completely neutered. It can still smell hormones but it doesn’t know what to do with it. All sex appeal is lost. It’s just kind of sad.” [TianCouture]

See all the looks from the Versace Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | Tod’s

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Great debut! Bravo! I haven’t loved a Tod’s collection that much since Alessandra Facchinetti left. I think this is good because it’s clever. Tod’s is not a fashion brand, it’s a leather goods maison. Here, he understood the assignment. The bags and shoes were very beautiful! Those bags are perfect! The clothes were down to earth, well designed and well styled. That’s a bit how I want Hermes to look.” [Lola701]

“Wonderful collection. I love how practical and elegant (also expensive) everything looks.” [thiago]

“This is by a mile the most pleasant surprise of the season. A very strong collection with variety of offerings and delicious accessories.” [TaylorBinque]

See all the looks from the Tod’s Fall 2024 collection.

MISS | Blumarine

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Remember when Blumarine was fun?” [AnaD]

“Something about this all looks so dated. Would have passed for a collection from 2015 or 2016 but not cutting it for 2024 sweety darling.” [GERGIN]

“The result was exactly what I expected. Sad and depressing. Why they thought a designer who does quiet luxury could do Blumarine is beyond me.” [LadyJunon]

HIT | Emporio Armani

“The finale was breathtaking!” [Koibito]

HIT | Moschino

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Way better than I was expecting. I don’t know why but I LOVED the last look. Bravo Adrian!” [Alejandra Isami]

“That was a TERRIFIC collection! He really understood the spirit of Franco Moschino. It’s classic with a twist, the right dose of humor but also very serious in terms of cut and execution. He is a dressmaker. The dressmaking was kind of exceptional for Moschino. The references were there but it had his spirit. Once again there’s a coherence between the designer and the clothes.” [Lola701]

“Guys, let’s be realistic, the man had a month to put together a debut collection and I think he did a very good job. He knows the archive very well, to begin with. He gets the Moschino values more than Jeremy Scott ever did.” [bc collector]

MISS | Sportmax

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“I haven’t seen such a chaotic collection in a long time. Grazia Malagoli are so inconsistent.” [helmutnotdead]

“This is kind of hard to comprehend as a collection. Just way too many disparate ideas that have been chucked in a design blender and they just hoped for the best.” [Cocteau Stone]

“A disaster.” [Lola701]

“Luxe and chic! Making me anticipate redoing my fall/winter wardrobe Clean, straightforward design. I appreciate it.” [TerraVera]

“A quintessential Max Mara collection, and I have nothing but love for every single look. So clean, refined, elegant, sophisticated, luxurious – the list goes on and on. This whole entire collection was styled by Tonne Goodman perfectly. Goodman and Ian Griffiths are proving to be a match made in heaven!” [vogue28]

“Such a ‘simple’ show and such a great fashion moment. It was close to perfection and this casting will be hard to beat!” [Ihhbl]

HIT | Alberta Ferretti

“I can always count on Ferretti for beautiful clothes each season.” [LadyJunon]

“In love with those massive knits! Very good collection for separates and outerwear. Good use of color too, it’s nice to see some restraint. This may be one of the few times chartreuse doesn’t turn my stomach.” [AnaD]

“Gorgeous!” [Nimsay]

MISS | Fendi

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Such a depressing collection, possibly the worst Fendi collection in decades? Honestly, Kim Jones should get a lifetime ban from designing womenswear ever again.” [style_expert]

“The worst knitwear of the season and so many unflattering propositions in one collection is just too much.” [perhydrol]

“Remember when Fendi used to be actually luxurious? Why would anyone spend thousands of dollars on stuff that has no glamour or uniqueness?” [GoldenPetals]

HIT | Del Core

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Oh I think this is fabulous. Feels very directional while remaining a bit effortless.” [TianCouture]

“I was a fan of Del Core’s since day one. I’m happy to see that he’s balancing out his offering with more daywear than he used to present at the beginning. I’m all for young designers who are out there with a serious proposition, real clothes, designed, cut and sewn clothes (not just styled). And worn by real models rather than the usual bunch of weirdos.” [bc collector]

“Beautiful collection! So minimal yet so sharp! Really love the draping here, it’s like I’m seeing fabric as portrayed in Michelangelo’s paintings. Chic!” [Ruito]

See all the looks from the Del Core Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | Etro

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“Sumptuous fabrics, lush textures, this was heavenly!” [Ruito]

“This is lovely! The color palette works so beautifully with the textiles. The prints and textures also looks very mature and expensive with the knitwear being my favorite part.” [dancv]

“Oh this is LUSH. It’s got that Colonial-era jazz lounge kinda glamor to it. There’s something very Chinoiserie about it. I love the details, like the fringes, ruffles, and tribal jewelry.” [GoldenPetals]

See all the looks from the Etro Fall 2024 collection.

HIT | No.21

IMAGE | SPOTLIGHT

“This this what I like about Dell’Acqua: he’s a real clotheshorse, he does what he does with a very earnest approach and he’s not pretentious about it.” [bc collector]

“It’s a beautiful and solid collection. The knitwear and the cocktail dresses are kind of exceptional…” [Lola701]

“Fabulous fabulous collection.” [TianCouture]

HIT | Diesel

“Always have a soft spot for his Diesel. I see some Gaultier-esque pieces here.” [Kanzai]

“Some looks are super exquisite and more elevated than what he usually offers. Like WOW!” [IloveDiorHomme]

The Fall 2024 season is a-go. In honor of London Fashion Week which runs February 16-20, we’re taking a trip down memory lane and flashing it back to LFW’s Fall 2014 season.

Just like in New York, the landscape across the pond was extremely different also. Perhaps the most surprising was that Tom Ford was part of the British fashion festivities, which marked a year since the designer selected London as the capital in which to showcase his wares. Ford’s collection for Fall 2014 boasted iconic styles from the American West and the pert proportions of the Swinging Sixties. Henry Holland’s buzzy namesake label House of Holland was still alive and kicking, in addition to the once-thriving businesses of Julian Macdonald, Matthew Williams and Giles Deacon. LFW staple Emilia Wickstead went all goth-metal today with a decidedly masculine edge while Simone Rocha added tartan to her deft and modern ways with heritage fabrics. Christopher Kane was still at the helm of Burberry, who presented a vibrant and breezy collection with hand-painted flower motifs, floaty fabrics and blanket shawls.

Three fashion capitals down. One to go, as we’re only just catching our breath after what has perhaps been the most whirlwind Milan Fashion Week in decades.
Kicking off MFW was Kim Jones at Fendi, with guests ushered into a space filled with XL Fendi it-bags sculpted out of white plaster, before models sashayed their way around the space wearing a colour-block collection of sophisticated separates and sheaths cut close to the body. Alberta Ferretti, the grand dame of Milanese fashion, gave us a breezy collection of silk, flowing organza and satin. Glamour was high on the agenda at Roberto Cavalli, in stark contrast to the Diesel show which was held in the middle of a rave, complete with around 7,000 people in attendance. Max Mara’s delightfully wearable collection boasted a color palette of neutral khaki, pistachio green, faded blue, mustard yellow and subtle pinks. Workwear jackets were paid with ultra-feminine ensembles at Prada while at Moschino, four stylists paid homage to Franco Moschino’s iconic designs from 1983-1993. Moody stares from the models were changed to grins going from ear to ear at Emporio Armani. Peter Hawkings was soon making his debut as Tom Ford’s creative director, presenting an ultra-luxe collection for someone who has somewhere fabulous to go, which ultimately proved Hawkings to be perfect successor to the Tom Ford label. Rainfall forced Sabato de Sarno’s open-air Gucci debut to head indoors, where the designer wiped the slate clean and delivered a plethora of reinvented classics for the storied Italian fashion house. Donatella Versace transported us back to the 60s at Versace (complete with a show-stopping last look won by none other than Claudia Schiffer) and it was an album of greatest monochromatic hits at Dolce & Gabbana. Matthieu Blazy’s latest offering at Bottega Venta gave us unexpected yet refined silhouettes and Maximilian Davis served up a modern and contemporary spring wardrobe for the Ferragamo customer. Closing out the festivities, the maestro of Italian fashion that is Giorgio Armani gave us yet another absolute masterclass in sophistication.
Look no further for an unbiased take on what Milan Fashion Week’s Spring 2024 season delivered. Go ahead and scroll down for a completely unfiltered take on MFW, all through the eyes of our forum members.

HIT | Ferragamo

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“A pleasure to watch as always. Maximilian Davis is really starting to hit his stride at the brand now.” [LadyJunon]
“His best collection yet for the house. It’s crisp.” [VERNIQUE]
“I felt that every idea and detail (the embroidered F lifted from Salvatore Ferragamo’s signature, the ankle strap on the sandals echoed in the leather collar detail of some of the looks, etc.) was well thought out and executed; the subtle bell-shaped sleeves on the tailoring looked very fresh; and the trail of very long fringe attached to the minimalist evening dresses was sexy and very chic at the same time.” [Kennnnn]

MISS | Philipp Plein

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“The circus is in town!” [Thefrenchy]
“Another season, another PP clown-show but always good for a chuckle!” [zoom]
“I don’t know who is buying this. I’ve literally never seen Plein IRL. The collection is atrocious with almost no respite.” [Nimsay]
See all the looks from the Philipp Plein Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Jil Sander

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“A pity that the thieves who stole the new Balmain collection did not steal this as well…” [jeanclaude]
“Jil Sander was never this conceptual, and certainly never contrived. Lucie and Luke Meier either don’t know or don’t care about the spirit of the brand.” [Kennnnn]
“The bling just don’t go well with the clothes. It only cheapens the whole collection.” [Gazillion]
See all the looks from the Jil Sander Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Ferrari

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“What a waste of money.” [VERNIQUE]
“Ferrari? Looks more like a Fiat 500 painted in red…” [jeanclaude]
“I really wonder what’s the purpose of the existence of this line. Was it ever explained? It’s very difficult for me to comment on this collection because it’s a whole lot of nothing and I don’t understand where it’s meant to live…” [Thefrenchy]
See all the looks from the Ferrari Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Bottega Veneta

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“The moment Matthieu Blazy tries to be avant-garde he fails.” [jeanclaude]
“My problem is that Blazy over conceptualizes. He needs to be more instinctive, to know how to stop adding details over details over details. It could have been a really great collection if he hadn’t added a few extra coats, a few dresses and trousers with different lengths and so on.” [GivenchyAddict]
“Once again, too conceptual, too heavy-handed, and far too many competing ideas.” [Frederic01]
See all the looks from the Bottega Veneta Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Missoni

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Got a soft spot for Filippo Grazioli’s Missoni and he always delivers.” [tourbillions]
“The nipples, super-mini dresses and the orange is a bit tacky, but delightfully so. It’s fun and a bit stupid.” [LadyJunon]
“Lovely! It’s very easy to understand, but it’s such a strong offering that I don’t see it as a disadvantage. Everything here is wearable and stylish in the best way possible. I hope it sells because Filippo clearly deserves to be successful.” [perhydrol]
See all the looks from the Missoni Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Dolce & Gabbana

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Very sexy and effortless.” [tourbillions]
“May just be my most FAVORITE of collections during MFW, in all honesty! Absolutely love every last thing that I’m seeing – love the monochrome, the sheer fabrics mixed with the lingerie, the polka dots, the heels, the casting and the thought of this potentially photographed by Steven Meisel for the campaign.” [vogue28]
“I love the fact that it’s a streamlined collection. Looks fabulous. Who would have thought?” [Scotty]
See all the looks from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Tom Ford

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“It’s a very good debut from Peter Hawkings. It’s more focused and builds on the TF lexicon, those velvet pants suits will sell very well and be copied a lot.” [disco54]
“LOVE IT! There’s everything we love about Tom Ford in this collection.” [DK92]
“Massively thrilled Peter Hawkings didn’t shy away from the quintessential Tom Ford aesthetic, and kept this whole collection on-brand, from first to last look. Tom Ford, will always and forever, be a brand that does not need a rebrand of ANY sort. Very much a fan, it’s just all so chic, sleek and sexy…” [vogue28]
See all the looks from the Tom Ford Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Gucci

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“So underwhelming and terribly boring. There’s no signature, no discerning elements that separate these clothes from everything else out there at the moment.” [Frederic01]
“I’m disappointed. These are just clothes and nothing more, there’s no identity. I never liked Alessandro Michele’s aesthetics but he at least had something new to propose for the brand.” [Danilo Braz dos Santos]
“Not that far from what I was expecting: very commercial. There was nothing really bad, but nothing to gush about. It’s clothes ready to hit the stores. I hope Sabato de Sarno can stretch himself more here as time goes by.” [Marc10]
See all the looks from the Gucci Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Versace

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Donatella knows how to make a woman look and feel good. Wow!” [prylvi]
“Literally the best fashion show since the whole fashion month started! The models, the clothes, the hair, the makeup and Claudia… OMG, what a GODDESS!” [Zorka]
“I am thoroughly able to appreciate how much of a departure this feels from recent Versace collections (even down to the beauty styling, which I thought was flawless). For me, Donatella going down the whole 1960s route feels fresh, loved all the mini-dresses, the checkerboard motifs and just about every single dress towards the end. Even the show space felt like a total breath of fresh air!” [vogue28]
See all the looks from the Versace Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Max Mara

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Gorgeous. It’s very consistent with Max Mara’s simple and relaxed luxury. The color diversity and color blocking is stunning.” [GoldenPetals]
“Luxurious and timeless but updated with the current time. Ian Griffiths keeps delivering everything that I want from Max Mara. The color palette is delicious and choosing Tonne Goodman to style for the show is the best decision Ian has ever made. Another hit from Max Mara.” [THD96]
“It’s so slick and luxurious. I love the proportions and the color palette.” [GivenchyHomme]
See all the looks from the Max Mara Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | MM6 Maison Margiela

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“It’s very chic and looks expensive for a diffusion line.” [FiLeReD]
“It’s very Margiela for Hermès in spirit, no? I like it very much. This is superior to 99.9% to what we saw in NYC and London while being in more of the same positioning.” [Lola701]
“So smart, so chic, so slick. It’s so good. This is what most of NYFW wanted to achieve but they have subpar hands to handle fine simplicity like this. I mean everything is so delicious here but I love that dress look 14. It’s simple yet so complex.” [TaylorBinque]
See all the looks from the MM6 Maison Margiela Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Moschino

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“JESUS CHRIST. Katie Grand’s part is one of the most TRAGIC things I’ve ever seen in my life!” [DK92]
“Carlyne is the saving grace of this mess of a show. No one literally asked for this.” [TaylorBinque]
“If I were the owner of Moschino, I would be crying and begging on my knees for Jeremy Scott to come back…” [jeanclaude]
See all the looks from the Moschino Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Prada

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Absolutely in love with this collection! Very surprised! I need to see this in person, the details look exquisite. It feels more like one cohesive, solid collection than most of their recent ones.” [Joromana]
“Really tightly edited collection. A concise vision.” [Nimsay]
“It’s a great collection. This is the best collection that I’ve seen coming out of this Miuccia and Raf collaboration. My favorite looks are the pastel ones. They’re quite chic and reminded me of the former glorious Prada. And the sheer numbers are also great.” [THD96]
See all the looks from the Prada Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Alberta Ferretti

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Light, breezy, another great collection from Ms. Ferretti!” [Ruito]
“Italian Ralph Lauren. Love the timelessness of this and it feels perfect for a Roman Summer Holiday. So many easy no-brainer separates. Finely made sheer gowns – which is her signature. The waist coat with slacks is perfect. Lovely.” [Nimsay]
“Typical Alberta Ferretti in the best possible way. So romantic & dreamy! Her customers are going to eat this up.” [bluestar]
See all the looks from the Alberta Ferretti Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Emporio Armani

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“Gorgeous color palette.” [Nimsay]
“I absolutely adore him. Bravissimo, maestro! Bright, beautiful сlothes and fantastic sense of color! He absolutely knows for whom he makes clothes and always feels it.” [HelgaZ]
“Another season and another collection from Armani which just flows oh so beautifully, from start to finish. I love how we start with the muted colour palette, and then ease into the greens, purples and we then conclude with Armani’s signature pink. Flawless!” [vogue28]
See all the looks from the Emporio Armani Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Fendi

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“I Fendied of boredom here…” [jeanclaude]
“Kim Jones really has no clue on how to do womenswear. Please, fire him and get someone else with skills.” [Creative]
“It’s getting tired and sad to witness every new season how constantly this guy is ruining Fendi. He has no clue how to dress a woman and make her shine. Hopeless. Please. please let him go and bring a skilled womenswear designer back.” [VERNIQUE]
See all the looks from the Fendi Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Blumarine

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“I feel like Nicola Brognano can do better than this…” [Lola701]
“Disappointing. Last season was so much better.” [RedSmokeRise]
“Did they get a budget cut or something? This feels worlds away from his other shows (which were great, absolutely loved last season especially). There’s some gorgeous stuff but the styling is really boring and set even drier.” [gossiping]
See all the looks from the Blumarine Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Diesel

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“What a mess.” [matheus_s]
“It just doesn’t do anything anymore. Yeah there’s some great textile potential but this is just a mess of so many different ideas and yet it’s once again the same thing they’ve been doing since the start.” [Cocteau Stone]
“This collection is stressed, everything is on the verge of a burnout, overworked, picked and plucked.” [Norden]
See all the looks from the Diesel Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Roberto Cavalli

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“There’s no way I’m gonna hate on this. It’s true to the DNA of Cavalli, with plenty of desirable pieces.” [GoldenPetals]
“It’s a good collection from Fausto. He has found the perfect way to mix his tacky ways with a Cavalli sensibility. It’s sensual, well styled and quite efficient.” [Lola701]
“Glamorous, sexy, well made – his first powerful collection for the house.” [TianCouture]
See all the looks from the Roberto Cavalli Spring 2024 collection.

MISS | Etro

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“I really think Marco de Vincenzo is lost at Etro. I don’t know but there is something missing. The charm. The elegance. The bourgeois.” [TaylorBinque]
“It lacks focus and real direction. It really goes all over the place. The styling is terrible.” [Lola701]
“The styling is horrendous. He needs to go back to last season.” [LadyJunon]
See all the looks from the Etro Spring 2024 collection.

HIT | Del Core

IMAGE: IMAXTREE

“I love how crisp and down-to-earth this collection is. Especially the closing look is wonderful, I want to touch it and investigate the simple cut and the fabric. The bags are also interesting, they feel like an organic part of the look and that’s a serious achievement for such a young brand.” [perhydrol]
“This was so good! I think Daniel Del Core is brilliant and I was so much looking forward for his collection. I love most of it. It all works well and it’s cohesive and seems to be perfectly executed.” [WAVES]
“This is so chic. Experimental without being overt. It’s the little touches. Like the front tucks of the tailoring jackets. Great color palette as well.” [youthinasia]

MISS | Bally

“This brand is doomed – and lost forever.” [FiLeReD]
“This is just atrocious. Basics can be good but the cut of those clothes is literally worse than Phillipp Plein.” [Lola701]
“This is just a new level of bad for this season. Literally looks like a supermarket’s in-house clothing line. I appreciate Simone Bellotti had limited time but taste is taste.” [HazJW]

“The quality of those pieces is insane…” [Lola701]
“I like it, as usual. Slightly outside of his usual offer IMO but also very him.” [WAVES]
“It’s Giorgio Armani doing exactly what Giorgio Armani does best, and under no circumstances can I hate on him for producing such a collection. It’s flawless from start to finish, and despite my love for those Armani blues and soft pinks, it’s the combination of the gold and grey which cements my love for this collection!” [vogue28]

That’s a wrap on Milan Fashion Week, and this Spring 2024 season has been a whirlwind from start to finish. The first portion of the week gave us buzz-worthy shows from MFW staples Fendi, Alberta Ferretti, Etro, Max Mara, Prada, Gucci and Moschino.
During the second half of the week, Fausto Puglisi took us deep into the jungle for Roberto Cavalli, we got a revival of the 1960s at Versace, Peter Hawkings proved himself to be the ultimate successor to the Tom Ford label, following his dazzling debut as creative director. At Bottega Veneta, Matthieu Blazy is simply bursting full of innovative ideas. It came as no surprise to see Giorgio Armani cement himself as the undisputed king of Italian fashion, and we’re only just coming up for air after so much… fab·u·los·i·ty.
