The 2024 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival is still ablaze down on the French Riviera, with the glitzy resort town having hosted a whole multitude of cinema stars, outstanding filmmakers and legends of the industry since Tuesday, May 14 (and the highly-anticipated closing ceremony is set to take place tomorrow). After skipping 2020 and scaling back for 2021 due to the pandemic, the 2022 Cannes International Film Festival is back in full force. Which is great for us since it usually produces fashion moments on par with the Met Gala and the Oscars. Although we have to admit, a decent amount of looks were relatively lackluster.

When it comes to designers, certain ones reigned supreme. We witnessed several dresses from Valentino’s Fall 2022 offering, aka the pink collection, take to the red carpet. Sharon Stone stuck with Dolce & Gabbana probably because she stars in the Italian fashion house’s new handbag campaign. As usual, there were plenty of haute couture looks to go around. Fendi, Armani Privé, Elie Saab, Christian Dior and Chanel are just a small sampling. Custom creations were also trending with Cara Delevingne’s revealing Balmain gown one of the standouts.

The jewelry was also something to behold. Especially when it came to necklaces. Julianne Moore’s Bottega Veneta dress was amplified by Bulgari’s Eden The Garden of Wonders necklace, for example.

On the beauty front, hair really turned heads. Bella Hadid’s wet-look hairdo with sculpted strands in the middle of her forehead really made a statement. As did Grace Elizabeth’s piecey pixie.

And while black gowns proved popular, pops of color helped brighten up the red carpet. Embellishment more your thing? Sparkle, feathers and lace accents were all accounted for. We were even treated to a few suit sightings, including the jump variety.

The 2019 amfAR Gala Cannes featured the usual array of models, actresses and musicians. But this year, the annual gala made headlines because it served as the official launch of the new Giambattista Valli x H&M collection. Everyone from Kendall Jenner to H.E.R. was outfitted in the tulle-focused collab, which partially drops tomorrow (the full collection won’t be available until November 7).

Those not on promotional duty embraced some OTT silhouettes. Dua Lipa stood out in a fiery Valentino haute couture gown and Sara Sampaio’s feathered Armani Privé also made quite a statement. And the naked dress is still going strong with several peekaboo pieces popping up on the gray carpet.
