The 2024 77th Annual Cannes Film Festival is still ablaze down on the French Riviera, with the glitzy resort town having hosted a whole multitude of cinema stars, outstanding filmmakers and legends of the industry since Tuesday, May 14 (and the highly-anticipated closing ceremony is set to take place tomorrow). To say the past few days have provided an absolute masterclass in red carpet dressing would be an understatement. Many of the A-list attendees have adored the iconic Cannes Film Festival red carpet in ultra-glamorous creations from the world’s most prestigious couture houses, while some (like Naomi Campbell) have unearthed looks from the archives.

From Bella Hadid proving to be the ultimate queen of Cannes donning a dramatic black Versace gown from the Italian fashion house’s Spring 2001 couture collection to this year’s jury president Greta Gerwig ascending the steps of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrèso having a full-on Barbiecore moment dressed in a Balenciaga couture confection – here’s even more standout style moments from the 2024 Cannes Film Festival:

Last night (in addition to the 2024 PGA Awards), the 2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards took place down on Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California. Celebrating the best of indie film and TV, the star-studded red carpet was more of a mellow affair as opposed to the high-glamour of the 2024 Golden Globes. Thanks to the relaxed dress code, fun jumpsuits, two-pieces and even some red-carpet socks were on full display. Emma Corrin’s look made for a serious style moment, arriving dressed in a pair of statement lime green socks, teamed with a little black dress from Miu Miu (a custom creation inspired by Miuccia Prada’s Spring 1998 collection). Natalie Portman wore a hand-crafted red leather ensemble from Balmain while Greta Lee (never failing to make a best-dressed list) donned a white sculptural dress from Lii.

CANNES, FRANCE - MAY 21: Elle Fanning attends the screening of "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" during the 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2019 in Cannes, France. (Photo by Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images)

Cannes is known for grand gowns and this year, celebrities really upped the stakes. From dresses so big they needed their own zip code to blinding bling in the form of necklaces, cuffs and earrings, there was so much to take in at every premiere. And there were plenty of structured silhouettes, especially when it came to jumpsuits. (We even spotted a pair of rompers on the red carpet.)

But the biggest star of this year’s festival was Elle Fanning. The youngest jury member in the event’s history, the actress really went for it each and every time she set foot on the red carpet. And we appreciate all the effort the 21-year-old put into her appearances.

In case you weren’t glued to your computer to check out all the premiere looks, we went ahead and put them together in one handy-dandy slideshow. You can thank us later.

This year’s SAG Awards was all about calculated risks. Sure, there were plenty of haute couture gowns and custom creations, but a majority of stars decided to take things up a notch on the red silver carpet. And we’re definitely not complaining. From a blazer/bustier hybrid to a moody floral dress with goth vibes to big (and little) bows and a gown layered over leggings, the attendees opted to go edgy. Surprisingly, Lady Gaga wasn’t one of the risk-takers, relying instead on a just-presented haute couture gown that also made our list of dream wedding dresses. While some celebs kept things pretty black and/or white, color was in full force at the ceremony. Reds and pinks proved popular along with pops of blue. And there was quite a bit of texture, from feathers to crochet accents to structured ruffles. Click through the slideshow to see who wore what.

The Cannes International Film Festival is known for grand gowns and boy, did it deliver this year. Of course, it helped that the 2018 jury president was none other than Cate Blanchett. Her many red carpet outings left no doubt who the queen of this festival was. We saw lots of capes, elaborate trains and the ever-present see-through dresses (one even came with a set of matching boots). But we were surprised that peach proved popular, vintage gowns were favored over current collections in many cases and that everything from shorter hemlines to suits were welcomed(?).

In the midst of all the fashion and fanfare, 82 women took part in a women’s march to call attention to the need for more women filmmakers and the festival’s complicity in this stark lack of diversity. The number of stars that took part was significant (Blanchett, Léa Seydoux and Salma Hayek were just some of the big names) because it represented the 82 female directors who have been part of the festival over its history, a far cry from the number of male directors whose films have been accepted.

For all the highlights from this year’s festival, check out the jam-packed slideshow above.

Who wears short shorts, barely-there skirts and plunging necklines? Nearly naked celebrities, of course. Stars are shedding the layers and, in some cases, common decency. There’s a sordid history of celebs baring excessive skin and it’s not always the usual over-the-top suspects. From the irrepressible see-through trend to pelvic cleavage, these celebs aren’t afraid to push the boundaries on the red carpet. Take a look at this sampling of nearly naked celebrities who put quite a bit of themselves on display.

US Glamour April 2018 : Camila Cabello, Elle Fanning & Aja Naomi King by Olivia Malone

It seems that Glamour has finally heard our complaints and ditched the messy graffiti-style cover font as the magazine unveils its latest offering for April 2018. Amidst some major staff changes and presumably with a small interim team until Samantha Barry takes control, Glamour plays it safe with cover girls Camila Cabello, Elle Fanning and Aja Naomi King. Photographed by Olivia Malone, the girls huddle together in the welcoming and fresh cover shot.

The cover generated a whole lot of mixed feelings amongst our forum members. “It has the feel of an old Allure… and it’s nice to see actual normal grown-up text on the cover, instead of that pseudo-handwritten scrawl they’ve been overusing for the past while,” said tigerrouge.

MON agreed, saying, “Allure? Even the layout screams Allure. You have three gorgeous women and you get this? Camila looks sleepy. Did she come from a show? They should’ve chosen a smiling shot of Elle. Her laugh is out of place here but it’s a beautiful shot of her.”

“Not the best shot, but it’s much better than what they’ve done over the past few months. Aja looks stunning, but Elle’s face looks very puffy. Odd, considering it’s a beauty-themed cover,” noted Benn98.

Srdjan definitely wasn’t here for it. “Unbelievable how all American editions went downhill recently, from Glamour and Cosmo to Vogue and InStyle,” he pointed out.

“This is the worst cover that they produced in years. Everyone can say that the old art direction is too juvenile, but it was unique, the images were cool. Now looks like an old magazine, this type of direction is the worst,” ranted caioherrero.

Check out the accompanying cover shoot and join the debate here.

This year, Angels took over Indio. Sure, we often see quite a few Victoria’s Secret models on the grounds at Coachella (Alessandra Ambrosio, we’re looking at you), but this go-round the brand actually set up shop in the desert the first weekend to flaunt its Sexy Little Things line. So, lacy bralettes were pretty commonplace as were crop tops, cutoffs and all manner of floppy hats. Denim on denim was trending in flashback fashion, although we were quite surprised to see 90s fave shortalls making a strong comeback at the festival. Some were worn straight-on, while other attendees opted to go old school and sport one strap loose. Regardless, we’re predicting they’ll turn into a spring/summer staple this season.

While the star power definitely dimmed during the festival’s second weekend, we still spotted a few celebs decked out in memorable fare, like straw hats and extremely short shorts. For all the festival fashion from this year’s Coachella (plus a tally of Kylie Jenner’s ever-changing hair color), check out the jam-packed slideshow above.

‘s covers tend to be hit or miss each month with our discerning forum members. For May 2017, the title’s annual ‘Fresh Faces’ issue drops, giving us five different covers to deliberate on. Photographed by Nicolas Moore, this year’s fresh faces include Alexandra Daddario, Aja Naomi King, Zoey Deutch, Emily Ratajkowski and Janelle Monae.
IMAGES: COURTESY OF MARIE CLAIRE Forum members couldn’t wait to debate whose cover came out on top. “Couldn’t have picked a more tired and grating tagline if they tried. Emily’s cover is the best one, IMO,” wrote forum member MyNameIs after seeing all the covers together. “The tagline is cheap TBH. Talk is cheap. I’d rather see an empowering and powerful image rather than your normal cover shot coupled with a tagline on feminism,” added MON. Also quick to comment was Benn98: “The first cover [Alexandra Daddario] is perhaps the most high-fashion image I’ve seen on US Marie Claire. Simple, yet so stunning. Also glad for Aja, but not a big fan of her pose and Janelle’s hairstyle is too much. In all fairness, Janelle and the annoying Emily are not ‘new’ faces. Most of the public at large know them fairly well.” “Emily Ratajkowski and ‘fresh’ in the same sentence,” mocked a dumbfounded Wintergreen. Miss Dalloway favored and approved, “Aja for me, love seeing her here!” “Emily Ratajkowski’s cover is by far the better one out the bunch. It just has… it! I love what she’s wearing, the pose, the grey background and the baby pink masthead. A really nice May cover, if you ask me!” vogue28 proclaimed.
